Despite reports from Mundo Deportivo claiming that Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié has agreed to join Atlético Madrid, it appears as if the Ecuadorian international will be remaining in the Bundesliga. Kicker reiterates that Leverkusen hold all the cards in this particular game of transfer poker.

Hincapié’s recently signed contract extension contains a €60m release clause. Germany’s red company team, per Kicker, will absolutely not deviate from this line during a summer in which they’ve lost so many key players.

The Spanish reports claim that Hincapié and his entourage are very keen on a move to the La Liga outfit. Moreover, head coach Diego Simeone remains a huge fan of the 23-year-old. ESPN recently reported that a move could materialize.
