Rennes winger Ibrahim Salah (23) will join Swiss Super League FC Basel after both clubs reached an agreement for the transfer of the Moroccan international, according to L’Equipe. Salah joined Les Rouge et Noir from Belgium outfit Gant during the 2023 winter transfer window. The Moroccan winger was signed as Kamaldeen Sulemana’s replacement when the Ghanaian signed for Southampton.
In eighteen months in Rennes, Salah logged seven goals and one assist in 47 games played in all competitions. He was deemed surplus to requirements last season and was allowed to spend the campaign at Ligue 1 rivals Stade Brestois. According to Ouest-France, talks are indeed advanced between Rennes and Basel over a €2m transfer fee for Salah.
Rennes travel to Brittany rivals Lorient on Sunday for Ligue 1’s second matchday. Habib Beye’s side has won their opening-day game against Marseille, which was marred by a violent bust-up between Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe.
