Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi has provided updates on the wellbeing of two important members of his squad, ahead of their upcoming showdown with Barcelona.
And the news, from an Inter perspective, is of an altogether positive nature.
Inter Milan have been forced to sweat over the status of both Benjamin Pavard and Lautaro Martínez, in the buildup to Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final 2nd leg at San Siro.
This comes after both players picked up injury setbacks over the course of the last week, the latter’s having come late in the first-half against Barcelona in Catalunya.
The immediate assumption was that frontman Lautaro was likely to join defender Pavard in being ruled out of the 2nd leg.
If the latest comments on the part of Simone Inzaghi are anything to go by, however, then as much remains far from certain 24 hours out from kick-off.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Monday, Inter Milan’s headmaster explained:
“We will decide with the technical staff and the players themselves. They have to tell me how they feel. For Pavard, the feeling is pretty good. As for Lautaro, he hasn’t trained since the Barcelona match. We’ll see his condition today.”
