Barcelona star shares message on social media following the renewal of Nico Williams | OneFootball

This summer transfer window has proven itself to be a big learning experience for FC Barcelona. Previously, the Catalan club seemed to be following all of their ideal targets with no worries or additional pressure. Now, however, Barcelona have been made aware of the consequences.

Over the last few weeks, the club’s primary focus was to bring in Nico Williams and sign him for next season. Unfortunately, the Catalan giants have failed to sign the player and he has already committed his future to Athletic Club until 2035.

This is bizarre news for Barcelona, who were reportedly counting on his arrival this summer. Interestingly, it has been reported that the registration concerns of the player and his camp reportedly led to this final decision, and that is definitely a big blow.

Previously, Barcelona player Dani Olmo even publicly reassured the player in regards to these registration problems and claimed that they ultimately get sorted out. After all, when Olmo joined last summer, he had very limited guarantees but his commitment to Barça was absolute.

Dani Olmo sends out a strong message

Now, with the Nico Williams operation not on the board for Barcelona any longer, Olmo has decided to respond with a strong message. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard had posted a public story on Instagram in which he was pointing to the Barcelona badge with a caption of red and blue hearts together.

This message is clearly showcasing his commitment to the club, and just how willing the 27-year-old player has always been when it comes to coming back home. While injuries disrupted his first season back at the club, he will be looking to make a stronger return in the upcoming campaign.

Barcelona now considering an alternative option

Interestingly, Olmo also complimented Nico Williams recently and labelled him as an elite player in his own regard. Simultaneously, however, he also spoke about Liverpool star Luis Diaz and how he is a player who would be welcome at Barcelona as well.

Coincidentally, it is now being reported that Diaz is in fact the new priority target for Barça now that Nico Williams is out of the picture. It remains to be seen what is possible for La Blaugrana considering the finances and negotiations with Liverpool, but the Colombian winger might now just be in a strong position to be considered the leading candidate for Barça.
