A head-turning statistic, highlighting the excellence of Barcelona star Pedri when out of possession across the season to date, has on Monday come to the fore online.

Midfielder Pedri, of course, is in the midst of nothing short of a brilliant campaign.

Looking completely rejuvenated under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick, the 22-year-old has dazzled from his berth at the base of the Barcelona engine room.

Dribbling, passing and incessant work off the ball, Pedri has showcased a complete repertoire of midfield excellence, to lead the Blaugrana’s charge for glory on both the domestic and European fronts.

And it is his efforts in the latter category which have early this week given rise to an altogether noteworthy statistic.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of statisticians WhoScored that Pedri, with a total of 133, ‘has won possession at least 15 more times than any other player in La Liga this season’.
