Barcelona star broke down in tears at half-time of Real Sociedad clash | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was reduced to tears whilst in the dressing room at the interval of the club’s most recent outing.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.

Midfielder De Jong was for his part afforded a starting berth on Sunday, as Barcelona made the trip to Anoeta for a La Liga meeting with Real Sociedad.

After going to ground in pain on a pair of occasions over the course of the first-half, however, the Dutchman was ultimately hooked at half-time.

And as much came with De Jong having been in visible distress in the dressing room.

As revealed by Sport, amid fears that he had suffered another serious injury, ‘Frenkie de Jong was left in a bad state and even cried during the break in the Anoeta dressing room’.

The 27-year-old has since been cleared of any such problem, but his emotional response to the situation only serves in highlighting the difficult mental space in which De Jong currently finds himself.
