In a surprising turn of events, SPORT reports that Luis Diaz, one of Barcelona’s top targets for the summer transfer window, has resumed negotiations with Liverpool regarding a contract extension, effectively ruling out a move to the Catalan club this season.
A few months ago, the Colombian winger seemed set for a potential departure from Liverpool, having expressed dissatisfaction with his role as a regular substitute.
During this period, Barça emerged as a potential suitor, with strong backing from Deco and positive indications from Diaz’s camp about a possible move.
However, with the Premier League title now secured by Liverpool, manager Arne Slot has worked to ensure the continuity of their championship-winning squad.
Talks between Diaz and Liverpool have now resumed after a hiatus, and sources indicate that they are progressing well.

All signs point to the 28-year-old winger agreeing to a contract extension once the season seasons, effectively putting an end to any speculation about a move to Barcelona this summer.
At one point, Diaz appeared to be unhappy with his situation at Liverpool, where he had struggled to secure a consistent starting role.
Amidst this, Deco had even opened the door for the addition of a versatile forward who could operate on the left wing and occasionally play as a central striker.
However, with Diaz now poised to stay at Liverpool, Barcelona’s search for attacking reinforcements will have to continue elsewhere.
While the club had hoped to bolster their squad with Diaz, the player’s decision to remain at Anfield aligns with Liverpool.
The Colombian’s renewal is in line with the club’s aim to keep their key players, including stars like Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are also set to remain at Liverpool.
