Barcelona have confirmed that Ansu Fati will spend next season at AS Monaco on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season.

As part of his contract with the Ligue 1 side, it is important to note that Monaco also hold a €11 million permanent purchase option, something that they can exercise after the season.

The former Barça number 10 will wear the number 31 shirt at his new club, the same number he had when he made his debut.

Back then, he showed everyone how talented he was. Now, he hopes to find that spark again, regain his confidence, and start enjoying football after a tough season that did not go his way.

Ansu struggled to make the impact many fans expected from him during the past year. Even though he didn’t shine on the pitch, he remains loved in the Barça dressing room. He has built strong friendships with many teammates.

Alejandro Balde was the first to react to Ansu’s move. He posted an emotional Instagram story wishing him well: “Good luck, my brother. ‘TMJ’ (we’re together) always,” with two heart emojis.

Strong bonds with Gavi and Araujo

Ansu and Balde have shared a close bond since they started playing together. They have often been seen laughing, spending time at events, and supporting each other during hard times. They even go on holidays together, showing how strong their friendship is.

With Ansu moving to Monaco, they won’t see each other daily anymore. But their friendship will likely stay the same, and fans can expect them to meet up and share moments online.

Other Barça stars also showed their support. Gavi shared, “I love you, brother,” while Ronald Araujo told him, “Go all out, Manin, you’re the best.”

Ansu will now focus on getting back to his best at Monaco, as any hopes of returning to Barcelona are dashed.

The young forward is not in Hansi Flick’s plan and a strong performance in the 2025/26 season would earn him a permanent place at AS Monaco.
