The Golden Boy is an award handed out on an annual basis, by Italian outlet Tuttosport. It aims to recognise the standout up-and-coming talent in world football, handed to an U21 player in one of Europe’s top-five leagues.

The current holder is Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, who scooped the prize following his explosion onto the first-team picture in Catalunya’s capital in 2023/24.

And as things stand, it is Lamine who again leads the way when it comes to the 2025 standings.

The rules of the Golden Boy award, though, clearly dictate that no one player can win the accolade on more than one occasion.

This means that no.2 on the current list can actually be considered the leader. And as things stand, Lamine’s teammate, Pau Cubarsí, sits in the runners-up spot.

Blaugrana stopper Cubarsí sits ahead of the likes of Desiré Doué, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Real Madrid-bound Dean Huijsen.
