Joshua Kimmich has been in the orbits of FC Barcelona for quite some time now and heading into the summer of 2025, when he will become a free agent, transfer interest in him has persisted.
Indeed, the Blaugrana continue to monitor his contract situation at Bayern Munich with manager Hansi Flick keen on reuniting with the player he has worked with in the past.
Kimmich, even though in talks with the Bavarians, has yet to make a decision and is carefully assessing all his options but the delays are causing some jitters at the Allianz Arena.
However, now, according to BILD’s Christian Falk, Kimmich might be leaning towards a move to Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid, if he does end up leaving Bayern Munich.
The journalist suggests that the German international is already in contact with Real Madrid to discuss his future and a possible transfer at the end of the season.

As things stand, Kimmich sees Real Madrid as the most appealing destination for him in the scenario that he has to leave Bayern Munich.
The versatile midfielder will continue to give first preference to contract negotiations with the record Bundesliga champions.
However, in case an agreement does not materialise, he would be open to joining Real Madrid, who are in the market for a replacement for the now-retired Toni Kroos.
This development will come as a concern for Barcelona, given that Kimmich can be a potentially solid addition to the squad, providing added depth in midfield, more so, if the Catalans end up parting ways with Frenkie de Jong in the summer.
The German international could also fill in at right-back, providing Jules Kounde much-needed cover without a drop in quality.
It will be interesting to see how this Kimmich saga unfolds in the weeks to come, with more talks expected with Bayern while Barcelona, Real Madrid and some other teams like Manchester City are also in the picture.
