The brass at Barcelona are no longer interested in the signing of Rayo Vallecano star Andrei Rațiu.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The name of defender Rațiu proved an altogether prominent one in the headlines surrounding Barcelona earlier this year.

This came after word was forthcoming that, amid a search for reinforcements at right-back, Deco and co. had earmarked the Romanian international as a leading target.

At one point, it was even suggested that the Blaugrana were preparing a summer bid for Rațiu.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media early this week is anything to go by, then the Catalans’ interest appears to have been brought to a definitive end.

As per MD, the emergence of Eric García as a viable alternative to Jules Koundé in Hansi Flick’s squad means that the Camp Nou hierarchy no longer view the signing of a right-back as a priority.

A deal for Rayo standout Rațiu, as a result, is no longer on the cards.
