As we approach the final week of the January transfer window, there is much anxiety at Barcelona surrounding the pursuit of Marcus Rashford.
Everything suggests the club will miss out on the services of the Englishman, who was identified as the ideal alternative to Robert Lewandowski.
In order to afford Rashford, Barcelona must sanction the sale of at least one quality player. But neither Ansu Fati nor Eric Garcia have shown any desire to leave the club.
This has put the spotlight on Pau Victor, who faces an uncertain future in Catalonia after struggling to earn regular minutes under Hansi Flick.
At present, Pau Victor is the only striker Barcelona have other than Lewandowski. Yet, the club do not consider him a replacement for the veteran forward, reports Mundo Deportivo.
This is evident in the way Hansi Flick has utilised Victor this season. At times when the German has had to rest Lewandowski, he has preferred Dani Olmo in a false nine role.

Even when Pau Victor himself had the chance to play in the starting eleven, he often operated at left wing.
Since joining Barcelona, Victor has featured in a little over 200 minutes of action this season, falling behind in the pecking order.
Despite Victor’s lack of game-time, Barcelona have no desire to get rid of the player anytime soon.
According to the player, neither the player nor the club envisions a scenario where Victor has to leave Barcelona.
That is why the Catalans have not even entertained interest from Real Betis earlier in the season. Their idea is to continue with Victor, despite the youngster’s lack of game-time this season.
