FC Barcelona have always had a long list of talented players coming into the first team from the academy or other clubs, but not everyone gets a chance to retain their place there. Some of them, over the years, have been forced to leave elsewhere in search of game time.

As the first-team core settles, the opportunities for youngsters to come into the first team are likely to keep diminishing. One player who seemed extremely talented but had to be sold at that point was Abde Ezzalzouli, who has moved to Real Betis and made quite an impact.

The 23-year-old started for the Andalusian club against Chelsea in the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League, and he made an instant impact, opening the scoring for his side. Although Betis did not emerge victorious, they gave a good account of themselves.

Will Betis sell Abde?

Ez Abde with Lamine Yamal

Abde has been impressive since his move to Betis, but scoring in the final of a European competition is set to attract eyeballs. Now, as per SPORT, Barcelona stand to benefit financially if Real Betis do decide to sell him this summer.

The Moroccan winger moved to Betis from Barcelona in 2023 for a fee of around €7.5 million, and the Catalan club also retained 50% of his economic rights from a future sale. That would have earned them significant money now.

However, Barcelona traded 30% of these rights in the deal to recall Vitor Roque early from his loan spell at the Andalusian club and sell him to Palmeiras. Thus, the Catalan club only has 20% of the rights on Abde going forward.

An unexpected profit

While it is not the same, Barcelona still stand to profit significantly considering the form Abde has shown this season. In 49 games across all competitions, the Moroccan winger has scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists.

Getting a fee from a potential transfer, irrespective of the amount is would benefit Barcelona from an FFP perspective. It remains to be seen if Betis put Abde for sale, and this will be one to keep an eye out for this summer.
