FC Barcelona will be looking to make some progress during this summer transfer window. With there now being a break before the start of next season, the Catalan giants have an opportunity to reinforce the squad. For Barcelona, that remains a top priority right now.

To help this goal of theirs, the Catalan club has already made some big moves in regards to signing a new goalkeeper. Espanyol shot-stopper Joan Garcia is their primary target, and his signing now looks to be closer than ever as Barcelona are taking the formal steps to close his arrival.

English clubs have been contacted

However, that would mean that the departure of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen becomes important for Barcelona. The German goalkeeper’s exit has been a recurring topic in recent weeks, and it now appears that he has even been offered to a certain English club.

As per the information provided by TBR Football, Premier League side Manchester United has been offered the chance to sign the 33-year-old Barcelona captain this summer. Similarly, Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa have all been approached as well.

Barcelona do not count on Ter Stegen

The report further states that Ter Stegen’s ideal scenario would involve him staying at Barcelona, but his agents are being cautious just in case. Interest from Saudi Arabia is still there for the player, and Turkish Galatasaray is also reportedly keeping an eye on the Barcelona goalkeeper.

For now, however, no talks have been held over a potential transfer for the player. Still, in coming weeks, it is expected that the Barcelona captain may have to change his plans given that the Catalan club is focused on making Joan Garcia their first-choice goalkeeper and Wojciech Szczesny will likely stay as his back-up option.

Interestingly, however, the same report did suggest that Manchester United would be open to selling Andre Onana this summer. If that does end up happening, they would be in need of a new goalkeeper and Ter Stegen’s signing could possibly become more plausible for them.
