Barca TV accused of disrespect after dig at Real Madrid icon Luka Modrić | OneFootball

A comment laid out by a member of the in-house commentary team watching over Barcelona’s meeting with FC Seoul on Thursday has turned heads across the fanbase of arch rivals Real Madrid.

This comes after the individual in question poked fun at the Croatian, for his part in Barca’s Copa del Rey final victory over Los Blancos last season.

Deep into extra-time in the fixture, Modrić was responsible for a loose pass in his own half. Latched onto by Jules Koundé, the Barca full-back went on to drive home a brilliant effort from range, in the process securing a pulsating win for Hansi Flick’s side.

And it was precisely this moment which was utilised as ammo on Barca TV this week…

Whilst watching over the Blaugrana’s 7-3 friendly downing of FC Seoul in South Korea, a member of the commentary team explained:

“From here, we haven’t given the tribute that Luka Modrić deserves. His last great service was the pass to Koundé in the Copa del Rey final.”

This was quickly followed by the assurance that the jibe was intended only as a joke, followed by praise for the midfield veteran.

But as alluded to above, as much has not stopped a somewhat inevitable backlash from surfacing online, as those of a Real Madrid persuasion accuse Barca TV of having no class.
