AC Milan got back to winning ways in the league after a couple of 1-1 draws, but they had to come from behind to beat Como.

The home side took the lead early in the second half when Assane Diao fired past Mike Maignan with a low shot to cap a sweeping counter-attack. However, just like they did against Juventus and Inter in the Supercoppa, Milan roared back.

They equalised firstly when Theo Hernandez’s scuffed first-time effort looped into the back of the net, which broke a record in the process. Then, Rafael Leao collected a brilliant through ball from Tammy Abraham and lifted it over the goalkeeper give Milan the lead, which they hung onto.

An even contest

Cesc Fabregas remarked after the game that it ‘hurts’ that his team were unable to get even a draw, also stating that he is ‘tired of the compliments’ because results are most important in the relegation battle.

He also said that someone who didn’t know anything about Como or Milan would presume the latter actually play in blue and white. Given the hosts had more possession, a similar xG, the same amount of shots and big chances, he has a point.

Comeback kids

Milan overturned a Serie A match, winning from a losing position, for the first time since February 3, 2024, against Frosinone.

The Rossoneri have achieved two consecutive away wins in Serie A for the first time since March 2024 (three in that case, against Lazio, Hellas Verona, and Fiorentina).

Individual acclaim

Théo Hernández has scored 30 goals in Serie A, becoming the first defender in Milan’s history to reach this milestone in the competition (surpassing Paolo Maldini’s 29).

Rafael Leão has been involved in six goals in his last six matches against newly promoted teams in Serie A (two goals and four assists).

Tammy Abraham has been involved in two goals in his last three appearances in all competitions (one goal, one assist) after going goalless in the previous four.
