Axel Disasi set to return to Chelsea after Aston Villa loan

According to The Athletic, Aston Villa are not interested in signing Axel Disasi (27) permanently, and the French centre back is expected to return to Chelsea upon the expiry of his loan. No purchase option was included in the initial loan deal between the two Premier League clubs.

Villa paid a £5m loan fee to gain the services of the Chelsea centre back until the end of the season, and if he had impressed, there may have been talk of a permanent move. However, Disasi was most recently left out of Unai Emery’s squad to face Fulham, and signs point towards the Frenchman returning to Stamford Bridge at the end of the current season.

On the move again?

Disasi is also likely to be shown the exit door when he returns to Chelsea. The former Monaco defender has been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca, and in a bid to raise transfer funds, the West London club are planning to sell the defender, according to Fabrizio Romano.
