Austria EURO 2024 Coach Praises Inter Milan: ‘He’s Matured As A Footballer & Person’ | OneFootball

Austria coach Ralf Rangnick feels that Inter Milan striker has matured a lot both on and off the pitch in recent years.

Rangnick praised the 35-year-old Nerazzurri striker while speaking at EURO 2024, via FCInterNews.

When striker Arnautovic joined Inter last summer, he did so in very different circumstances to his first spell at the club.

Arnautovic had previously spent the 2009-10 campaign on loan with the Nerazzurri.

That was a hugely successful season for Inter as a team. They famously won the European Treble of the Serie A title, Coppa Italia, and Champions League.

But Arnautovic played only a bit part role in that success.

The Austrian international was still a young player very much developing his game.

After that, Arnautovic starred for the likes of Werder Bremen, Stoke City, and West Ham United. Then, he made the move to the Chinese Super League.

In the summer of 2021, however, Arnautovic returned to Europe, and to Italy. He joined Bologna.

After convincing in two seasons at the Rossoblu, Arnautovic made the switch from the Emilian team back to Inter. But now as a very different player in many respects.

When Arnautovic came back to Inter, he had bags of experience.

And the veteran had also shifted his style of play to put more emphasis on physicality and holdup play.

And this has not only been important for the Nerazzurri. Arnautovic has also been a key man for Austria as he always has been, including this summer at the Euros.

Austria coach Rangnick declared that “Marko has matured as a person.”

“As a person, and as a family man.”

The coach said that “We also had a couple of conversations about family.”

“About his father, and about my father. I appreciate Marko not just as a player, but also as a human being.”

Despite Arnautovic now being in his mid-thirties, Rangnick argued that “He’s still fast enough.”

“Maybe not enough to play as a winger. But certainly to play as a central striker.”

“He has all the qualities needed to play in that position,” added the Austria coach.
