Atletico are planning to submit an offer worth €30 million for Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The La Liga giants are looking to continue their spending spree and have set their sights on the Italian international to add more depth to their attack. Raspadori struggled to nail down a regular spot under Antonio Conte last season, although he contributed to Napoli’s Serie A triumph.
He could be pushed further down the pecking order following the signings of Lorenzo Lucca and Noa Lang in this transfer window.
Los Rojiblancos are looking to provide an opportunity for the former Sassuolo star to revive his career.
They have lined up a bid worth €25 million plus €5m in bonuses, while the Serie A champions are holding out for a €30m fixed fee.
Raspadori is aware that he needs regular playing time to sustain his place in the Italian national team ahead of next year’s World Cup.
The 25-year-old’s versatility would make him a great weapon in Atletico’s armoury. Manager Diego Simeone will also value his industrious nature off the ball.
Atletico have a stacked attack, consisting of Julian Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth and Giuliano Simoene.
Raspadori could be viewed as an ideal back-up or even a long-term successor for Antoine Griezmann, who will have reduced game time this season.
Atletico have shortlisted Juventus forward Nico Gonzalez as a potential attacking target, but could face competition from Inter Milan for his signing.
The Colchoneros have already signed Alex Baena, Johnny Cardoso, Marc Pubill, Matteo Ruggeri and Thiago Almada this summer.
