Fiorentina picked up a 3-0 win over Inter in the Serie A yesterday and this came as a result of Moise Kean’s brace.
This took the Italian’s tally to 15 in the Serie A and that is the highest number of goals he has scored in a single season and there are still some months to go for the campaign to end. In all competitions, he has 19 goals. His brace came after his crafty finish against Genoa some days ago.
So much of Kean’s success is down to how Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino has brought the best out of the Italian. He is constantly in the final third and there is a limited burden of link-up and getting involved in play.
Palladino’s flexible approach to the game means that Kean often has a lot of space to run in-behind and there is enough support behind him to provide him the right kind of service in the final third.
Generally, Fiorentina operate with two narrow number tens, which makes sure thatt there are players quite close to Kean and quite the same was the case with Palladino’s setup at Monza, who overperformed under him despite a limited budget and stayed in the Serie A.
Kean has had 1.34 shots on target per 90 minutes, which is his highest in a full season and when he has played over 10.0 per 90 minutes. A setup like this suits the Italian’s strengths and makes sure that if anything, he only takes on defenders and there is no pressure to drop deeper and link up play or there is the problem of a lack of service, which was the case at Juventus.
This is a player who is thriving on and off the pitch, as he grows in confidence while his music career also takes off.
