With Arsenal’s former sporting director Edu Gaspar leaving the club this season, the Gunners have been on the lookout for a replacement.
There have been a number of names reported, and Sparta Prague director Tomas Rosicky was initially one of them. The former Gunner has now publicly confirmed that he’s on Arsenal’s radar, but denied receiving any offer.

“My connection with Arsenal is natural because I spent 10 years there, and when you spend 10 years somewhere you form a strong, very strong bond,” Rosicky began.
“I am honoured by the fact that I am even being considered by Arsenal’s management, but I can say that I don’t have any offer to go to Arsenal.
“As I mentioned before, I’m aware that I’m on their radar or I figure in their considerations in some capacity, but I haven’t received any offer.”

The lack of an official offer may not mean Rosicky is out of the picture. David Ornstein reported for The Athletic this week that Arsenal were yet to offer the job to any of the people on their shortlist.
Ornstein added that Arsenal plan to make an appointment this month, and they’re currently in the process of whittling down candidates before making a final decision.
According to the report, interim director Jason Ayto is on the shortlist along with Dan Ashworth, Andrea Berta, Roberto Olabe, Thiago Scuro, and others. All of those named above have at least been discussed internally or held talks with the club.

It would be good news if Arsenal can get the position sorted this month, as the club really need to start working on their summer transfer plans now, and a sporting director is a key figure in that process.
