Arsenal looking to sign Hincapié | OneFootball

Arsenal are hoping to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié before the end of the transfer window.

The Ecuadorian had recently been linked with a move to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur but The Athletic journalist David Ornstein is now reporting that the Gunners are 'working on a deal' for the 23-year-old.

Any transfer for Hincapié would require Arsenal to move on some of their players first but the player is said to be keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side will likely need to trigger the defender's €60 million release clause for Hincapié who has four years remaining on his contract with Leverkusen.

Hincapié began his career in Ecuador with Independiente del Valle before signing for Argentinian side Talleres.

Since moving to the Bundesliga with Leverkusen, Hincapié has played 166 times for the club and was a part of the team that won the title in the 2023/24 season.
