Sevilla revealed on social media on Wednesday that Albert Sambi Lokonga has begun working on the grass at their training ground, writing “welcome back” to the Arsenal loanee.
The player is working his way back after a hamstring injury, suffered in training earlier this month.
Reports at the time suggested a four-week absence, and we’re about three weeks into that timeline now. Lokonga’s return to individual training suggests he could be back in action in another week or two.

This month’s hamstring injury is already the third of Lokonga’s loan spell with Sevilla.
The 25-year-old first suffered an injury in pre-season, missing the opening game of the season. After returning and making two appearances in late August and early September, the Belgian international then suffered another setback.
From October until February, Lokonga mostly managed to stay fit and play regularly, telling the media: “I think I’ve put the problem of injuries behind me, it’s in the past, now I just want to play and be decisive for the team.”
But not long after that interview, those injuries sidelined him again.

Lokonga has made 16 appearances for Sevilla, who have a £10m option to buy in his loan deal. If all goes well, he’ll be available to play again when his team face Real Sociedad on March 9th.
