Arsenal are among the admirers of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, a report has revealed.
Strengthening in attack is a key priority for Arsenal this summer and manager Mikel Arteta is known to be an enormous fan of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, whose mammoth price tag of £150m is likely to scare off all suitors.
That is not the end of the story between Arsenal and Newcastle, however, as David Ornstein of The Athletic has put the Gunners among the "multiple top clubs" to have taken a liking to Gordon.
It is specifically stressed that nothing has come from that interest just yet and there is no guarantee that there will even be negotiations, but the England international is one of many names under consideration as Arsenal look to bolster out wide.
Athletic Club winger Nico Williams is among Arteta's top targets for the position. His release clause, worth around £50m, will be far cheaper than Newcastle's asking price for Gordon, but the problem with a move for the La Liga star is the salary needed to convince Williams to make the move.
It was recently revealed that clubs looking to sign Williams, including Chelsea and Barcelona, face the prospect of making the 22-year-old one of their highest earners as he currently takes home close to £200,000 per week at a club whose unique transfer strategy frees them up to hand out mammoth wages.
With doubts over whether a move for Williams will be possible, Arsenal are right to be exploring moves for multiple targets and they were recently named as suitors of Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman as well.
Gordon, who was the subject of a failed approach from Liverpool last summer, has racked up nine goals and seven assists across all competitions this season, dazzling in Newcastle's forward line alongside dream target Isak.
