Tel has been used on the left wing and as a striker in the ongoing campaign so far. In 14 outings, he has managed to get only one goal contribution. He is averaging 1.7 shots, 0.2 key passes, and 0.7 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The French attacker is a versatile feature at any position in the attacking line. He likes to attack directly and is comfortable with both feet. He provides key passes, does effective dribbles, finishes chances and also marks an aerial presence.
The front line of Arsenal have been hit by several injuries and they need more firepower to be able to compete for titles this season. Hence, their interest in Mathys Tel is justified even though getting his signature won’t be easy.
Recent reports suggest that Tel has already rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s offer. It means that he has interest from the Gunners and Manchester United still in line. It remains to be seen if Mikel Arteta can convince him to sign for them or not.
Talking about the project, the 19-year-old is a talented player and his versatility will be well appreciated. He is likely to improve with more experience and proper guidance. His play of style and qualities will help him settle down in the Premier League pretty quickly.
