Arsenal have been preparing for a big summer in terms of signings for months. With the team close to establishing themselves as a serious contender in both the Premier League and Europe, the club’s leaders understand that the transfer window will be key to making the final leap.

The departure of experienced players has left gaps in the squad that cannot be ignored. With Mikel Arteta determined to strengthen his midfield, the club are already working with precision on future additions, without being swayed by established names alone. There is a clear strategy: to add young talent that can establish itself now and explode in the near future.

Arsenal Are Interested In Signing Ayyoub Bouaddi

To that end, Arsenal have already secured the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. As Graeme Bailey reports for TBR Football, the Gunners are not stopping there and now have their sights set on Ayyoub Bouaddi, the 17-year-old promising youngster who plays for LOSC Lille.

The journalist details that, with the confirmed departure of Jorginho and the possible departure of Thomas Partey, the English club want to add another midfielder this summer. Bouaddi has been tracked along with other young talents such as Sverre Nypan, Lucien Agoumé and Santiago Barrios, revealing a clear pattern in the London club’s sporting policy.

Opinion:

But does it make sense for Arsenal to go for a 17-year-old in such a crucial area of the pitch? The answer is not simple. Ayyoub Bouaddi has drawn praise in France for his maturity on the ball, vision and ability to manage pace in midfield, even against experienced opponents.

In a well-structured team, his growth could be immediate. However, his age raises reasonable doubts. Mikel Arteta has shown confidence in young players, but he also demands commitment and immediate performance. Signing Bouaddi alongside Zubimendi may serve to balance present and future, although Bouaddi may need a season to adapt.

The price may be a sensitive issue. If Lille demand a high sum, the risk becomes higher. But if the club manage to negotiate for a reasonable figure, it could prove to be a gamble with a high return. Replacing Partey directly with a 17-year-old seems rash.

The Ivorian brought physicality and experience. Bouaddi does not yet offer that. However, having him as a long-term alternative while Zubimendi establishes himself does sound more coherent. If Arsenal get it right, they will not only add quality, but they will also show that they know how to plan beyond the immediate present.
