Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has been out of action for the last couple of weeks, sitting on the bench against Liverpool before dropping out of the squad completely against Newcastle United on Sunday.
That wasn’t the first time Timber had missed out recently, having also been absent for the match against Bournemouth earlier this month. He did feature in the PSG fixtures on either side, but didn’t complete 90 minutes in either case.
Sam Dean of The Telegraph has revealed the reason why, reporting that the player is set to undergo ankle surgery.

Timber has reportedly been managing fitness issues in recent weeks, and the club’s medical staff have decided surgery is now necessary to address the problem.
At this stage, Dean reports that it’s unclear just how long Timber might be out.
But with Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League and all but securing a second-place finish, this is arguably the best time to get the operation done ahead of a summer of recovery.

At the very least, Timber is likely to be out for a couple of months. Anything more than that and he’ll miss pre-season fixtures and potentially even the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
It’s another injury blow for the Gunners in a season littered with them, and we wish Timber the best for a speedy recovery.
