Arda Güler reveals Carlo Ancelotti’s direct role in his decision to join Real Madrid | OneFootball

Real Madrid youngster Arda Güler has this week confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti played a central role in his decision to link up with the capital giants last summer.

The relationship between Güler and Ancelotti, of course, has long proven a hot topic of conversation in the Spanish media.

As much comes amid what has proven a trying debut campaign for the Turk in La Liga.

Since putting pen to paper on terms with Real Madrid last summer, Güler has been afforded a paltry two starts across all competitions.

Such an underwhelming start to life with his new club has given rise to inevitable murmurs stemming from Spain’s capital, pointing towards Ancelotti not being as firm a believer in the talents boasted by the 19-year-old as others at the Santiago Bernabéu.

If the latest comments laid out by Güler himself are anything to go by, however, then Ancelotti’s stubbornness when it comes to his young midfielder’s integration should not be mistaken for a lack of faith.

This comes amid confirmation that Los Blancos’ headmaster was a leading figure in the push to convince Güler of the merits of taking his talents to Madrid:

“Carlo Ancelotti called me 3 times last summer,” the former Fenerbahçe starlet explained, during an interview with KAFA Sports. “He even asked me to promise him that I would join Real Madrid.”
