The list of absentees at Real Madrid continues to grow.
This time, it is not a player. Instead, it is a notable figure behind the scenes, namely, Giuseppe Bellistri, a key member of Carlo Ancelotti’s backroom staff, who has officially announced his departure from the club.
Bellistri, who joined Real Madrid in 2021 as a fitness coach, took to Instagram to deliver an emotional farewell message. “It’s not easy to say goodbye to a club that has been so much more than work: it was family, a challenge, a dream,” he wrote.
“Thank you for the opportunity to live one of the greatest experiences of my life. Now the time has come to pursue new goals, continue growing, and take another step forward in this passion. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Real Madrid.”
His exit follows closely on the heels of another significant departure, namely, Francesco Mauri, who also served on the physical preparation team, left the club just a week ago.
The pair, along with Antonio Pintus, formed the core of Ancelotti’s fitness and conditioning setup, widely credited with keeping the squad physically sharp during intense domestic and European campaigns.
Pintus, a highly respected figure in his own right, remains at the club for now.
However, the double departure of Bellistri and Mauri signals a period of transition for the fitness department, an area that has been fundamental to Real Madrid’s recent successes, including back-to-back deep runs in the Champions League and consistent domestic form.
With the FIFA Club World Cup and pre-season just around the corner and Real Madrid’s ambitions as lofty as ever, the timing of these departures could pose a challenge for Los Blancos.
