ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN OVER COMO

Artikelbild:ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN OVER COMO

Hard-fought and hard-sought, grit and pride. This is an important win on matchday 29 in Serie A: it finished 2-1 for the Rossoneri at San Siro against Como, capable of completing the comeback after Da Cunha’s goal in the first half through Pulisic and Reijnders in the second. The two goalscorers affirm their good stats this season as they picked up their 15th and 13th goals respectively. Three precious points that see us arrive at the last international break of the season in the best way possible and, above all else, keep us in the fight for European football next season.

It was more or less the same as the reverse fixture in January: another comeback win, another 2-1, with a good second half. Something else to touch on is the assist from Tammy Abraham for the winner who put in a great performance off the bench just like Fofana, Jiménez and João Félix. Let’s keep this going, it’s our second win on the bounce after we fought back to beat Lecce last weekend: there are things to work on in order to grow but the results are the payoff for the daily work of the group at Milanello. Those who won’t head off on international duty will be back in training on Tuesday afternoon when preparations will begin for the tough away day against Napoli on March 30. Forza Milan!

MATCH REPORT After an attempt from Theo in the 2nd minute, we had our first big chance in the 4th minute as the ball fell to Musah who missed the target after having got past Butez. Two shots from Paz didn’t trouble Maignan between the sticks, Thiaw got his leg out to a ball from Strefezza in the 19th minute. Mike denied Paz in the 33rd minute but the move continued and Como went ahead through Da Cunha on the edge of the box. The initial Rossoneri reaction came from Pulisic in the 40th minute but his ball flew high. Close call in the 44th minute when Kempf shot from close range but found Maignan at the ready in the last attempt of the first half.

We got back underway with two changes - Jiménez and Fofana on - and a goal chalked off for Da Cunha, offside. João Félix also entered the pitch and the Rossoneri reacted with a big goal from Pulisic who, in the 53rd minute, was picked out by Reijnders to fire home. The game grew in intensity but not in the number of chances, in the 69th minute, Reijnders hit the crossbar from the edge of the box. Como also went close through Cutrone but in the 75th minute, San Siro exploded with joy as the Rossoneri took the lead: assist from Abraham for Reijnders who kept his cool in front of Butez. Tijji came again but without the finish in the 85th minute and at the other end of the field, Maignan did well to deny Paz. The Lariani went down to 10 men at the end of the game - Alli was sent off after making his debut for a foul on Loftus-Cheek - and after six minutes added on, the final whistle saw it end 2-1 to us!
