Ange Postecoglou reveals Tottenham Hotspur focused on transfer departures

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that the North London side are currently focussed on offloading players this summer.

Up until now, in the ongoing transfer window, Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Ashley Phillips, Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz have been bought by the Lilywhites.

In turn, Spurs have parted ways with Harry Winks, Joe Rodon and Harry Kane. The English skipper was the big departure from our team as he joined Bayern Munihc on a permanent basis.

Postecoglou has seen plenty of players return from their loan spells to Tottenham this summer. Speaking to the media via football.london, the Australian manager admitted that the North London side needed to part ways with players before signing new ones.

“We just can’t keep bringing players in, we need to move some players out. That’s where our focus is right now.”

Kane’s exit is a big blow for Spurs. The 30-year-old had been our talisman for several years before making a switch to Germany. In the previous campaign, he was our only reliable outlet up front.

Therefore, we evidently need to bolster our attack. Richarlison played as the number nine in our first game of the Premier League season against Brentford. The Brazilian put in an underwhelming display as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Tottenham’s defence is also seemingly an issue. We lack strength in depth in our backline. While we have signed Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg, the North London side could arguably do with more personnel in the team.

Davinson Sanchez replaced him.

Thus, with just a couple of weeks left to the transfer deadline, Spurs need to be quick and efficient with their business. While a bloated squad will do no favours to the manager, not strengthening the team further will arguably hinder the chances of our success.
