Carlo Ancelotti has officially started a new chapter in his football career as the head coach of Brazil.

After a long and tough 2024/25 season with Real Madrid, full of ups and downs, the Italian coach decided it was time to walk away. Even though he still had a year left on his contract, Ancelotti felt that it was the right moment to move on.

In an interview with MARCA, Ancelotti shared what led to his departure. He was honest and clear, saying the team’s performance and results were not up to the mark.

“The results weren’t what we expected,” he admitted.

“After the match against Arsenal, we talked it over and made the decision. The team was not in a good place, and we all knew change was needed.”

Ancelotti always spoke highly of Real Madrid. He tried everything to improve the situation, as he even showed motivational videos to the players to lift the mood.

He stressed the importance of unity and said that Real Madrid was always a great example of togetherness.

Even with the challenges, Ancelotti looks back with no regrets. “From the first day to the last, I enjoyed it. Well, not so much the last one,” he said with a smile.

The farewell was full of emotions. “Saturday at the Bernabéu will stay with me forever,” he added.

“It was very emotional. Everything. The truth is that these were days filled with a lot of emotion.

“It’s been four wonderful years, and I’ve felt the affection and respect from everyone at every moment.”

Now with Brazil, Ancelotti is focused on preparing for the World Cup qualifiers. He also spoke about some of Real Madrid’s big names.

On Kylian Mbappe, he said, “We’ve already seen what he’s capable of in his first season. During the season, I told him we had to win the Champions League, that with his goals and Real Madrid, we were obliged to do so.”

When asked about Vinicius Jr., he praised his work ethic and determination. “He’s a hard worker and a fighter like few others. His best version will soon emerge.”

As for Xabi Alonso taking his place, Ancelotti had nothing but support. We’ve talked. He’s done an incredible job at Bayer Leverkusen.

“He doesn’t need my advice because he knows the club perfectly. He was a natural choice. He’s going to do a great job at Real Madrid.

Though he is now in Brazil, Ancelotti made one thing clear: “You never really leave Real Madrid.”
