Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is ready to use 22-year-old Lorenzo Aguado whenever he feels first-choice right-back Lucas Vazquez needs some rest.

According to AS, this decision comes after Aguado impressed during his performance against Deportiva Minera in the Copa del Rey.

Despite being a newcomer to the first team, Aguado has proven to be a reliable option, offering a solution for Ancelotti in this position.

With Dani Carvajal sidelined due to injury, Real Madrid’s plans for the right-back position have been somewhat disrupted.

However, the club is still clear on their long-term goal of bringing in Trent Alexander-Arnold, but they are taking a cautious approach, knowing that the Liverpool player could be available on a free transfer in six months.

For now, Real Madrid have turned to their academy for a solution, and Aguado has emerged as a key option to help manage the workload of Vazquez.

Although Vazquez remains the primary choice for the right-back role, the arrival of Alexander-Arnold could change things, potentially opening up a competitive battle for the position.

Regardless, Ancelotti values Vazquez’s experience and understands how important it is to give him rest when needed.

Meanwhile, Aguado has shown he can step in when required, as demonstrated in his solid performance against Deportiva Minera, where he played for just over an hour.

His contributions included 45 touches, 23 successful passes, two crosses, and four dribbles. He also came close to scoring after receiving a pass from Endrick, which left him in a great position to score.

Ancelotti was pleased with Aguado’s performance, and the young full-back was even included in the squad for the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, following a previous call-up to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup.

While Vazquez is expected to start in upcoming matches, including a potential final, Aguado’s display has ensured that Ancelotti has a trustworthy backup option if the need arises.
