An 8-0 victory on Wednesday night saw Amy Gallacher get back amongst the goals in what was a pleasing evening for Elena Sadiku’s Celtic side.
The Ghirls ran out comfortable winners over Aberdeen at New Douglas Park, continuing their strong start to 2025.
With six different scorers getting their name on the scoresheet, it was an impressive all-round performance from the Hoops, to pick up all three points in one of two rescheduled fixtures.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, one of the those scorers, Amy Gallacher, reflected on what was a good night all round for the Celtic squad.
Grabbing her first goal of the new year, with her last coming November, Gallacher and her team-mates were left pleased with their performance as a whole, maintaining impressive levels throughout the 90 minutes.
She said: “I think that performance is probably the best we have played in a while. Especially in the first half. I think we created a lot of chances throughout the game.
‘We managed to obviously score eight goals, so we need to be proud of that for sure.’
“I’m happy to be back on the scoresheet and contributing to the team. Just as a team, we spoke about before the game just trying to get a good performance first and foremost.
'I think goals came along with that too. So, it was a really good performance and night.'
“I think sometimes we’ve not built on first-half performances. We’ve kind of had a good first half or a good second half.
“But I think today, in the second half, we tried to keep going. We just need to keep being ruthless and scoring goals like we did tonight.”
Having changed formation heading into the new year, Amy Gallacher now finds herself playing a slightly deeper role within the side, but with license to get forward.
The 26-year-old admitted she has enjoyed that slight change in both her position and the team’s formation, with the trip to Gran Canaria playing a big role after putting in a lot of hard work during their winter training camp.
With another big game on the horizon this weekend against Rangers, Gallacher is hoping the Ghirls can carry that performance into Sunday’s game.
“Gran Canaria really helped with that change,” she explained. “Togetherness and team bonding. But also having a chance to work on the new formation.
‘We are playing four at the back now, so I think we are just getting better and better with each game.’
“Sunday will obviously be a massive game. We’ll go out for the win obviously. It’s a Glasgow derby, but we always want to win no matter the game. But we are looking forward to it.”
