Alonso claims bond with Leverkusen will "stay forever" | OneFootball

Having announced his decision to leave Bayer Leverkusen during this afternoon's press conference, Xabi Alonso expressed his emotions.

The Spaniard said he believes the club are in a good position looking to the future and will always remember his time here with fondness.

“I think that there is no doubt: the momentum of the club and the team is very good, it's fantastic.

"The squad that we have, where we have developed the club to, it's obvious that we can be happy with that, that we can be proud of that.

“At the club there are very intelligent and very well prepared people who will take it in the right direction, the same way they've done until now,” he added.

Alonso continued by stating his bond with Leverkusen is unbreakable and will continue to do his utmost for them going forward.

“I will always be there to help [the club in the future] in the best possible way I can.

“Forgetting everything as soon as I'm not here? No, that is not me. I want to still have this bond with Bayer 04, that stays forever,” he said.
