Liverpool continue their pursuit of Alexander Isak as they try to pry the striker from Newcastle United. Now there's been a dramatic update.
Liverpool went into this transfer window eager to sign Alexander Isak. There's now under a week to go and it's difficult to know if they're any closer to doing so.

There's no question that Isak wants the move and it's also clear that Liverpool will pay up. They've already put in a record-breaking offer to sign the Swede.
Newcastle, however, rejected it and don't actually want to lose Isak. There's a sense that they will sell if they find an able replacement but that's a process that hasn't even remotely gone their way thus far.
And now, in the final week, Newcastle's owners have stepped in to find a resolution here.
The Daily Mail reports that 'Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben and a PIF delegation’ met Isak at his house on Monday ahead of the fixture against Liverpool. They’re attempting to persuade the player to remain at the club.
It’s said a new contract would be a part of that, should Isak commit himself to the club for another season. The report also mentions this being ‘a step in the right direction’.
That’s a blow to Liverpool if the report is correct. But it also felt inevitable at this stage.
