Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has been voted as the Premier League Player of the Month for December.
Isak has won the award for the first time after a prolific run of form for the Magpies. The Swedish striker led the Premier League for goals in December, scoring eight times in just six appearances. He netted in each of Newcastle’s six fixtures throughout the month.
Isak’s return included a hat-trick against Ipswich Town and crucial goals in wins over Aston Villa and Manchester United. His form has helped Newcastle back into the race for Champions League qualification.
The 25-year-old is the fourth Swedish player to win the award. He follows Freddie Ljungberg for Arsenal in April 2002, Johan Elmander for Bolton Wanderers in November 2010, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Manchester United in December 2016.
