Alex Morgan has announced her retirement from professional football at the age of 35.

One of the greatest goalscorers in the Women’s game, scoring 123 goals in 224 caps for United States National Team, Alex joined us in September, 2020, and spent the first half of the 2020/21 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign in our colours.

An influential figure on and off the pitch, the forward made five appearances for us, scoring twice in the WSL, on her return to action after giving birth to her first child in May of that year.

On the international stage, she ends her playing career as a two-time World Cup winner with USWNT in 2015 and 2019, won a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze at Tokyo 2020, while her 123 goals leaves her fifth on the all-time list for goals for her country.

We should like to wish Alex the best of luck with her next endeavours.
