Álex Baena undergoes successful surgery for acute appendicitis

The bad news continues regarding Álex Baena. In addition to the injury suffered by the player after the debut at the RCDE Stadium, Atlético de Madrid has announced that Baena has undergone emergency surgery for acute appendicitis. The club has reported that the laparoscopic surgery went smoothly and the player is doing well. However, Atlético has informed that due to the appendicitis operation, Baena will remain hospitalized for the next few hours.

His recovery will determine his hospital discharge. This same recovery will dictate his return to training and subsequently his return to the playing field. Therefore, this new setback leaves Baena's return against Villarreal up in the air.
