Sport Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach and French attacker Alassane Plea are making progress in ongoing contract negotiations. According to the tabloid, the 32-year-old is keen to remain with the Bundesliga club he’s represented for the past seven seasons. Sport Bild goes so far to claim that Plea is even willing to accept a pay cut to remain.

Plea is coming off what was by far his best season for several years in a BMG tricot. Gladbach head coach Gerardo Seoane utilized him in several different attacking roles during his 30 league appearances. For the first time since the 2021/22 campaign, Plea achieved a double-digit goal total. The Frenchman collected 11 league goals in addition to registering six assists.

Seoane and BMG sporting director Roland Virkus were always quick to commend Plea this season, particularly after a historic hat trick against Werder Bremen on matchday 26. It makes perfect sense that Plea should continue to fit into Seoane’s personnel puzzle. Several French and English sides have been linked with, but – as noted in the Sport Bildreport – Plea would be in line for a pay-cut in any case.

As of now, the tabloid claims Plea wants a long term deal that will see him conclude his career in the Niederrhein. Plea specifically demands a contract valid through 2028. Virkus and the BMG administrative team may accede to this demand as it’s unlikely their can net a significant sum on a potential Plea-sale.
