Al-Hilal have reportedly informed Bruno Fernandes he has a 72-hour ultimatum to take them up on their eye-watering proposal, according to Mail Sport.

In hopes of convincing the Manchester United skipper to part ways with his beloved club, Al-Hilal are prepared to quadruple his current wages worth £280,000-a-week to £700,000 tax-free. The package they’re offering is expected to be worth up £200m for a three-year contract.

Fernandes’ representatives have been ‘in talks’ with the Saudi outfit ‘for some time’, and they must now gauge whether he is ready to pull the curtains on his European career.

In turn, United would receive around £100m for sanctioning the exit of their most influential and dependable performer, who was named the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year this term for the fourth time in his five-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford.

Signings as impactful as Bruno Fernandes are few and far between

Despite the club’s calamitous campaign, he has again been head and shoulders above his teammates. He finished 2024/2025 with 19 goals and 20 assists to his name in 57 appearances, bettering last season’s tally of 15 goals and 13 assists.

In the aftermath of last Wednesday’s Europa League final heartbreak in Bilbao, Fernandes opened the door to the prospect of him being sold to aid the side’s precarious financial situation.

“I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go,” said Fernandes to reporters post-match.

“If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever. It is what it is. And football sometimes is like this.”

Ruben Amorim, however, has maintained that he wants to enter his first full term as United boss with the captain at his disposal.

Amorim adamant about continuing with Fernandes at the heart of his rebuild

Today, during a post-season tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong, Amorim said of Fernandes: “The last game (against Aston Villa) the team was without pressure, they performed quite well, everybody wants the ball, the team has different moments and in different moments Bruno takes responsibility.

“He’s really important for us and really important for what we want to build with this team.”

The 30-year-old signed in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £47m. He put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension last August to fend off outside interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, while also granting him a substantial pay rise.
