Al Ahly Threatens to Block Star Striker’s Move to MLS Club
Al Ahly SC's issued stern warning over the transfer of Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali to MLS side Columbus Crew threatening to halt the deal unless payment is made before the Egyptian window closes.
Despite announcing the player's departure earlier this week, an official from Al Ahly told Erem News that Abou Ali remains on the club’s squad list as the agreed fee has yet to be received from Columbus.
Without payment, his international clearance won't be sent and his name won’t be removed from the roster.
The source confirmed:
"Wessam Abou Ali may stay at Al Ahly if Columbus fails to complete the financial transaction by the Egyptian transfer deadline on Wednesday"
The 24 year old joined Al Ahly in Jan 2024 from Sweden’s Sirius and immediately impresse finishing as joint top scorer in the Egyptian Premier League and netting memorable hat trick at the Club World cup in the U.S..
Abou Ali recently pushed for move to MLS with Columbus Crew tabling 7.5 million dollar offer. The player even skipped training to force the deal before later apologizing publicly in video message.
Al Ahly's officially announced his departure but withheld financial details and unless the American club settles the dues immediately, the move could be called off altogether.
