Leeds and Burnley sealed automatic promotion back to the top flight on Easter Monday, with the Whites eventually claiming the title on goal difference on the final day of the season after both teams finished on 100 points.

Sunderland became the third side to achieve promotion with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the play-off final at Wembley on Saturday, with late goals from Eliezer Mayenda and Tommy Watson turning the game around for the Black Cats after Tyrese Campbell had given the Blades the lead in the first half.

Leeds and Burnley will be returning to the Premier League after just two and one-year absences respectively, while Sunderland have been out of the division for eight years, during which time they even spent four seasons in League One.

While Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland will still be celebrating their promotions, they will be in no doubt about the size of the task they face to stay in the Premier League.

After Luton Town, Burnley and Sheffield United suffered an immediate relegation back to the Championship last term, all three promoted sides were relegated from the top flight for the second consecutive campaign this season, with Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton all going down with a whimper.

The Foxes, the Tractor Boys and the Saints accumulated just 59 points between them, which is the lowest-ever combined total of the three sides relegated from the Premier League, and that beat the previous record of 66, which was only set last season.

Those statistics highlight just how difficult it will be for Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland to establish themselves among England's elite, particularly with the existing Premier League sides getting stronger each season, but supporters of all three clubs will be hoping that they can be the ones to buck the trend.

As the trio begin their summer transfer window preparations, we asked AI how they will fare in the top flight next season.

Of course, Leeds were the Championship title winners, but while ChatGPT predicts that the Whites will be competitive in the Premier League next season given the strength of their squad, it did admit that the increasing gulf in quality between the two divisions could be a problem for the Elland Road outfit.

Burnley had a remarkable defensive record on their way to promotion this season, conceding just 16 league goals in their 46 league games and keeping a record-breaking 30 clean sheets, and AI believes the solidity of Scott Parker's side could give them a chance of being able to remain in the top flight.

With their squad having an average age of under 25, ChatGPT noted the resilience and togetherness Sunderland displayed on the way to promotion, but it referenced comments made by Black Cats legend Kevin Phillips, who warned that the club may need to strengthen significantly in order to survive in the Premier League.

According to AI, all three clubs will face big challenges in the top flight, but it believes Leeds and Burnley may have the best chance of staying up next season given how impressive they were in the Championship this term, while it claims that Sunderland could struggle the most out of the three promoted sides due to the amount of work they need to do on their squad.
