The agent of Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol has reflected on his client’s impressive debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

The 22-year-old defender completed a £77 million move to Manchester City last August, becoming the second most expensive defender of all time, after Harry Maguire’s £80 million move from Leicester City to Manchester United in 2018.

Gvardiol has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium, and could claim his first Premier League title this weekend, with Manchester City requiring a win over West Ham to secure a sixth league title in seven years.

The defender, who has predominately played at left-back for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, scored twice during last weekend’s win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, and has been on the scoresheet five times in eight matches.

The Croatian international netted his first goal during a 3-3 first-leg draw against Real Madrid last month, and has also scored against Luton Town and Nottingham Forest.

Gvardiol has made 40 Manchester City appearances to date, with 36 starts across six different competitions this season.

The 22-year-old made his debut against Burnley at Turf Moor, prior to making his first start during the Sky Blues’ UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla in Athens.

Gvardiol will be hoping to add two major trophies to his collection this month, and in an exclusive interview with Fabrizio Romano, the defender’s agent has revealed his ‘delight’ at the transfer to east Manchester from the Bundesliga.

“He’s really delighted to be at Manchester City. He strongly wanted to join City last summer. Josko knew the project was the best option possible and he was right,” said Marjan Sisic.

“I’m not surprised by his goals, he has a great finishing since he was kid. I remember Josko scoring when playing centre midfield at Dinamo Academy in Under-14 and Under-15. You can clearly see that he did not forget that finishing touch.”

Gvardiol has the opportunity to win two trophies from his final two matches of the campaign, with an Emirates FA Cup Final against Manchester United to follow Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash against West Ham.
