After Arsenal collapse – Now six Premier League clubs fighting for four Champions League places

Has the Arsenal focus on this season’s Champions League, now put at risk their qualification via the Premier League for next season’s CL competition at risk?

Is it now six teams fighting for four Champions League places, rather than five chasing three spots?

A dramatic collapse on Saturday means that certainly the possibility is now there, if not the probability, just yet…

Declan Rice put Arsenal ahead on 34 minutes at the Emirates but they never looked convincing, Bournemouth coming back to win thanks to two second half goals from Huijsen and Evanilson. The Gunners not forcing a single save after going behind on 75 minutes.

Arsenal have now won only three of their last ten Premier League matches and in this run of games, it now includes defeats at home to both West Ham and Bournemouth, as well as draws at the Emirates against Brentford and Palace.

As you can see from the remaining games below, Arsenal next play Liverpool away and then Newcastle at home. Not impossible now that Arsenal could go into the final day of the season needing something to get a place in the top five and Champions League qualification. It is Southampton on the final day for them but away from home and funnier things have happened than a club rock bottom and long relegated, winning on the final day against a nervous opposition desperately needing a result.

Mikel Arteta played his first choice eleven as well yesterday, so no excuses on that front.

Now they play PSG on Wednesday in a match they have to throw everything at, to try and turn around a 1-0 deficit from the home leg.
