The Nigerian rejoins Zingonia after 15 days away, disciplinary sanctions looming
Ademola Lookman returns to Atalanta as Inter ends negotiations
Ademola Lookman has made his return to the Zingonia training center at the start of this week. The Nigerian striker for Atalanta had been absent for fifteen days hoping for a transfer to Inter Milan, a move that ultimately failed to materialize. The Nerazzurri management has now officially pulled the plug on negotiations.
The Nigerian international had left Italy, first heading to Portugal and then to his London residence, as he awaited a concrete offer from Inter that never matched the financial expectations of the Percassi family. His training strike was an attempt to force a move to Milan, but the strategy did not pay off.
A day after returning, Lookman did not take part in the group training session with his teammates. The former Everton player limited himself to an individual session to regain his rhythm following his enforced break. This temporary exclusion fits with the need to restore his fitness, but it could also be connected to internal disciplinary action. Atalanta’s management is currently weighing up which disciplinary measures to impose on their player after his absence during this crucial preparation period.
Meanwhile, Inter has definitively closed the Lookman file, bringing this summer saga to an end. The club led by Steven Zhang has communicated that talks are over, barring a last-minute tactical move at the very end of the transfer window—a scenario that now looks highly unlikely. The Bergamo club turned down several offers from Milan, including the latest worth €42 million plus €3 million in bonuses, judging it insufficient to let go of one of their key attacking assets.
