The brass at Italian giants AC Milan have kicked back into gear efforts to bring in a member of the midfield ranks at Valencia.
That’s according to market insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Javi Guerra as the player in question.
Youngster Guerra is for his part a man in-demand this summer, after another impressive campaign on the books of Valencia.
All told, from his berth in the middle of the park, the 22-year-old featured in all but two of Los Che’s La Liga fixtures, chipping in with three goals and three assists along the way.
Such endeavours proved enough to pique the attentions of a whole host of clubs, chief among them the aforementioned AC Milan.
The Rossoneri, on the lookout for midfield reinforcements following the departure of Tijjani Reijnders, went as far as to table an offer for Guerra last month.
After as much was rejected out of hand by Valencia, though, it appeared as though Milan’s pursuit had come to an end.
But as alluded to above, this week, the board at San Siro are understood to have reignited their Guerra swoop.
As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto:
‘Milan reactivates the Javi Guerra track. In recent hours, new contacts have been made for the Spanish midfielder, who is still awaiting a contract renewal proposal from Valencia. Despite a meeting held on Thursday, July 7, between Valencia and Guerra’s entourage to discuss a possible future together, the Spanish club has not yet formalized an offer for an extension (and adjustment) for the player. Milan is now negotiating to reach an agreement on contractual terms; no deal has yet been reached between Milan and Valencia.’
