Sporting Lisbon striker and Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres is drawing widespread interest across Europe, with AC Milan the latest club to join the race for the Swedish international.

The 27 year old has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with United and Arsenal both tracking the player closely in recent months.

Arsenal have reportedly been Gyokeres’ preferred destination, with the lure of Champions League football seen as a key factor in his thinking.

United have remained hopeful throughout the saga.

The Red Devils had taken encouragement from Arsenal’s interest in Benjamin Sesko, believing that a deal for the Slovenian striker might push Gyokeres into their path. But Sesko’s potential move to the Emirates has reportedly stalled.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have made Gyokeres their top target. The Italian side are in the market for a powerful, goalscoring number nine, and see the Sporting forward as an ideal fit.

Gyokeres scored 54 goals last season and is seen as a complete striker—strong, clinical, and dominant in the box. His physical profile makes him a standout candidate for Milan’s new-look attack under Massimiliano Allegri.

However, Milan’s hopes of landing Gyokeres remain slim. Without European football, they are seen as underdogs in the race and are relying on Arsenal and United failing to close a deal.

Complicating matters further is a reported disagreement between Sporting and Gyokeres’ representatives. The player’s agent believes there was an agreement allowing his client to leave if a bid of €60 million was received.

Sporting have denied any such clause exists, potentially raising the final asking price.

For United, the entry of Milan into the conversation may have little impact on their overall position. Their hopes remain tied to Arsenal’s strategy, which remains unclear as the window evolves.

Gyokeres remains the defining name of the summer window, with United and Arsenal still the most realistic destinations. But Milan’s late interest could add a new twist to an already complicated narrative.
