Kyle Walker is closing in on his Manchester City exit to Italian football this month, but it appears as though the move may only be temporary for the time being.
Public comments from the side of AC Milan have emerged over the course of the weekend, with senior advisor to the club, Zlatan Ibrahimović stating on recent reports, “Kyle Walker is a top player, a big leader… We’re checking what we can do for that deal, yes. We will see.”
Intensified conversations with the Milan giants have taken place over the past few weeks after Manchester City’s voted club captain requested via the Etihad’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain that he could explore his options this month.
While Saudi Arabia have long been touted as possible admirers in one of Manchester City’s longest-standing players, and boyhood club Sheffield United has always been seen as an end-of-career destination, it appears as though Walker’s sights are set on Italy.
As such, conversations involving all parties have seemingly progressed nicely and ahead of a new week, we may be on the verge of seeing Kyle Walker bring an end to an illustrious career with City that has been built since the summer of 2017.
According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Serie A giants AC Milan have now started planning for the arrival of Manchester City captain and England international Kyle Walker.
It is reported that a medical for the 34-year-old and next formal steps are expected for between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, with personal terms already agreed with the right-back.
As for talks between the two clubs over a transfer of the experienced Premier League defender, it is explained that AC Milan and Manchester City are closing in on the final details of a loan deal.
Manager Pep Guardiola has openly admitted that while he will be respectful of the decision made by Kyle Walker, he believes the Manchester City defender could have over three years remaining at the very top of the game.
“Incredible player, incredible physicality,” Guardiola said of Walker in a recent press conference. “When focussed, he’s unstoppable. A top class player!”
He continued, “If he’s fit and his mind is there, he can play one, two, three, four more years. I’ve never seen a player with this physical condition in my career.”
Since submitting a transfer request to Manchester City, Walker has been shut out of the club’s matchday activities by missing competitive outings against Salford City, Brentford, and most recently against Ipswich Town.
