Tammy Abraham believes that AC Milan ran out deserved winners against Roma, and admitted it hurt to be jeered by his old fans.

When Abraham got the nod to start against Roma it felt like he had a point to prove for a couple of reasons. Firstly he was facing the side he is on loan from, while secondly the man on the bench waiting to take his place is January signing Santiago Gimenez.

The Englishman scored twice in the first half to really send a message. For the first, a ferocious shot from Tijjani Reijnders was only parried to Theo Hernandez, whose cross to the back post was perfectly headed back across goal and in.

The second was a move started with a sweeping pass from Musah to get out of the press, then Theo took it forward and slipped in the English forward, who finished confidently and gave the Frenchman a second assist.

Abraham spoke to SportMediaset after the full-time whistle to give thoughts on his brace and on a job well done by the team against his parent club, with MilanNews transcribing his comments.

A good performance and win…

“I am very happy with the victory. We deserved it. But now we have to rest and be ready for Empoli.”

What do you think of Gimenez?

“He’s a good guy.”

The Roma fans booed you…

“The boos from the Roma fans hurt me, because everyone knows what Roma meant to me. I didn’t celebrate when I scored. But that’s okay, that’s football.”
